Cornerstone Housing Limited offers affordable,
high-quality rented and shared ownership homes across Exeter and the surrounding areas.

This refurbishment project at Beacon Avenue, Exeter, modernises their existing housing stock tranche. It improves the homes’ thermal properties and their tenants’ living environment, delivering a positive drive towards Cornerstone’s lower carbon footprint initiative. The Beacon Avenue project was shortlisted for the 2021 Exeter property awards

SAS was involved with the project from the design stage to completion, including a CPD presentation with Cornerstone and Heighway Field Associates representatives responsible for the project design. The work was carried out by the skilled and dedicated in-house trade team at Cornerstone.

The SAS technical team worked closely with Heighway Feild Architects during the specification process providing U-value calculations for optimal thermal performance. 

Close collaboration was instrumental in achieving a highly successful fire-compliant system on the building façades.

This extensive refurbishment scheme, undertaken in six construction phases, included a complete installation of our Mineral Wool ProRend EIFS, BBA Certified Insulation System to blocks of terraced houses. Our close communication with Cornerstone ensured the best possible outcome throughout the build. 

The Cornerstone workforce undertook upskilling to complete this vital work. Three on-site training days took place to help guarantee that the on-site team were fully conversant in installing the system using best practice. 

The completion of this project took place in mid-2022.
